Years 5 and 6 (age 9-11):
- Design a poster for Karneval or Fastnacht in a German/Austrian/Swiss town.
- Draw a picture that explains the meaning of a funny German word or phrase.
Years 7 to 9 (age 11-14):
- Draw a comic strip of a humorous German story or poem.
- Write a short joke in German and illustrate it.
- Write a brochure explaining and illustrating a German/Austrian/Swiss comic tradition.
Years 10 and 11 (age 14-16):
- Write a review of a comedy show or piece of comic theatre, or write a comparison between a German and an English one.
- Write a profile of a German/Austrian/Swiss comic figure.
- Write an original comic poem in German.
Years 12 and 13 (age 16-18):
- Make a short film in response to a German comic tale or poem.
- Write a short comic story in German, or a comic version of an existing serious German story.
- Write a short essay in German about a joke, poem, book, film or event, explaining what makes it 'funny'.
Open Competition for Groups or Classes (4+ participants)
- Film a short comic sketch in German.
- Write and perform a comic song in German.
